Our Fit for Purpose model allows us to customize our services to meet your needs every time.
This way, you have access to complete, all-inclusive project management or any isolated areas of expertise you may require.
We are your partners. We treat every project as if it were our own. There are no pre-defined packages to lock into.
An initial consultation with one of our qualified Project Managers will help determine the exact extent to which you can utilize our services, and your customized proposal will be crafted from there.
You have a resource requiring a drill program.
We have the technical expertise to support you. From guiding your drilling program regarding tonnes and grade required to make an economical project, to planning your metallurgical testing, JDS will help you maximize the value of your exploration dollars.
We have the on the ground expertise to support you. The goal of our team on the ground is to take away the distractions and let you focus on the drilling with the result being more meters, faster at a lower cost per meter drilled.
- Excavating and transporting bulk samples;
- Supplying, setting up and operating pilot plants
- Purchasing and operating barges supporting remote drill programs in the Yukon
- Building airstrips in the Arctic
- Setting up camps, fuel storage, water and sewage treatment plants
Our team on the ground can support all your logistics and construction requirements.
You have a resource and need advice developing the right plan to move forward. We will assess the resource, develop a conceptual mine plan, assess the extraction methods to develop a conceptual flow sheet and recoveries and then scope out the capital and operating costs based on our real life experience providing you with a financial model. Our scoping studies look at the different options, providing you with a recommendation how to maximize your NPV and IRR and we’ll be there to support you right through the journey to first production.
Building on an initial scoping study, JDS takes your resource to the next level, improving the level of design in all areas of the project including the resource, mine, process plant, recoveries, infrastructure, environmental review, capital costs and operating costs and taxation so that your report can be issued publicly.
You want to approach public or private financing partners. It’s time to move your resource to a reserve. The objective of the Pre-Feasibility Study is to establish if a full Feasibility Study is a sound business objective before an investment is made.
We will lead a comprehensive study of a range of options for the technical and economic viability of your project that will be advanced to a stage defining the mining method and an effective method of mineral processing. We will develop project capital and operating costs, define mineral resources and reserves, outline mining methods and beneficiation processes, estimate mining and milling rates and mine life and mine plans.
Our model is to develop the financial analysis early and communicate it regularly with the client. We will develop our financial analysis based on mining, processing, metallurgical, economic, marketing, legal, environmental, social and governmental considerations and the evaluation of any other factors which will be signed off by JDS Qualified Personnel (QP’s).
Building on the Pre-Feasibility, we begin every Feasibility Study gathering our senior leadership and doing an in depth evaluation of your resource and project, providing recommendations for maximum value potential. Keeping your business objectives at the forefront, JDS will complete and manage all work necessary to produce a NI 43-101 compliant Feasibility Study.
The heart of every project is the resource, and our experienced geologists and mining engineers will take your resource and complete all mine planning. Our metallurgists and process team will generate optimal flowsheets and we will manage the detailed engineering generating “Fit for Purpose” plant and infrastructure. JDS can manage the geotechnical, environmental and social studies required.
Our Construction Management team will generate the capital cost estimate and construction schedule delivering you a realistic plan and budget. Working closely with your team, our mining engineers and process team will generate operating costs from basic principles. Our financial model will be developed early setting expectations and updated as information becomes available. This analysis will provide you will a clear guide and expectation of the value of your resource development project.
JDS’s philosophy is to execute Feasibility Studies such that a seamless transition can be achieved into detailed design and construction. This includes engaging suppliers, consultants, and contractors that are deemed as best fit for the Project. The type of continuity increases certainty in capital and operating parameters achieved during detailed engineering, construction and operations.
JDS’s mining team of seasoned engineers, planners, and geologists through field superintendents to operators are ready to challenge open pit and underground projects anywhere in the world. Our unique position of engineering and performing contract mining work keeps us entrenched in the real world challenges regarding labour, equipment, supplies and costs and strengthens our ability to provide true value service generating tangible results at the face, to the mill, to the bottom line.

Our mine closure services will take your project from “cradle to cradle” with the final closure design in mind. We start with mineral project evaluation and mine design, followed by operations. When the life-of-mine ends, the site is restored to conditions that allow the site to be reused or refitted for another purpose, hence the term “cradle to cradle”.
Our work experience includes preparation of mine closure plans, closure cost estimates, characterization of mine wastes, closure strategies for tailings and waste rock storage facilities, storm water runoff analyses and designs, final grading plans, field oversight of earth-moving closure activities, and post-closure monitoring and maintenance.
We have successfully managed baseline studies and permitting processes for start-up operations, managed community relations engagement and social license maintenance, and supported permitting efforts during expansion phases and closure. We have extensive experience in environmental assessment and regulatory compliance. JDS has achieved results under cost and time constraints by building internal and external relationships with industry groups, governments and regulators.
