Minto Mine Project
Overview
The Minto Mine is a high grade copper-gold mine located 240km north of Whitehorse, Canada, and is owned 100% by Minto Explorations Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Capstone Mining Corp. The Minto Mine is an open pit mining operation with conventional crushing, grinding, and flotation to produce copper concentrates with significant gold and silver credits.
Scope of Work
2006 - 2007
JDS was retained by Capstone to provide Engineering and Construction Management (EPCM) services in late 2005 to design and build a 1,400 ton/day process plant, develop the mine and dry stack tailings facility, design and build a barge to traverse the Yukon river for access to site, construct an airstrip, 3 MW power plant, 130 person camp and supporting infrastructure. From the acquisition in mid-2005 to commercial production in June 2007, JDS led the feasibility study, managed the detailed engineering which was performed by Hatch and EBA, performed the procurement, managed the construction completed by Clark Builders and Pelly Construction and led commissioning completed by Clark Builders and Capstone personnel, delivering the project on-schedule and on-budget. JDS also provided significant input on permitting and geo-technical information.

2007 - 2008
JDS was subsequently retained to complete the EPCM services on the first expansion to 2,600 ton per day as well as the erection and commissioning of a water filtration unit for environmentally safe discharge; which were executed on-schedule and on-budget.
