Three Bluffs Project
JDS designed, supplied, and installed hot water systems, piping, power, and pumping infrastructure to extend diamond core drilling operations by four months annually during cold weather at this remote northern exploration project. JDS also designed and constructed an airstrip for 208 Caravan aircraft to reduce transportation costs, procured and assembled equipment via Hercules transport, and mobilized camp kitchen and sewage treatment facilities to support camp expansion while maintaining regulatory compliance. Implementation of JDS's HSE program improved site safety performance, with the project completed on time, on budget, and incident-free.

Coffee Project
Following the Feasibility Study, JDS was engaged by Goldcorp to provide EPCM services and two-year mine operations for the Coffee Project, a planned 200,000 oz/year heap leach gold mine south of Dawson City, Yukon. The comprehensive scope included a 214km access road with river barge crossings, 425-person camp, 18,000 tpd crushing plant, ADR plant, airstrip, maintenance facilities, water management infrastructure, 60Mt heap leach pad, steel storage tanks, and 450MW power plant. Following Newmont's acquisition of Goldcorp, the project was placed on hold while assets are prioritized. JDS continues to provide logistical support.
Yukon Territory
Barkerville Gold Mine
JDS provided on-site construction management and supervision for the Cow Mountain Portal development, enabling access to a 10,000-tonne bulk sample at Barkerville Gold Mines' Cariboo Gold Project. Work included a 300m non-contact diversion ditch, 6m x 6m x 25m Arch Lock Tunnel with retaining wall, 4,000m² pad construction, and significant earthworks totaling 30,000m³. JDS also managed mobilization of BGM's Sandvik MT-720 Road Header between portals, designed and constructed a 2,200m insulated and heat-traced dewatering pipeline, and provided ongoing operational support for road header operations.

Mercedes Mine
JDS designed and installed 240 meters of ground support and manway systems within a previously excavated raisebore at Yamana's Jacobina Mine in Brazil. Due to the raise bore excavation method, JDS employed innovative top-down construction using modified suspended staging. JDS led the construction management team and supplied trained personnel to complete the ground support and ladder installation safely, on time, and on budget with zero safety incidents.

Madsen Gold Project
JDS led the 2017 Feasibility Study for Pure Gold Mining Inc.'s Madsen Project, managing all study components and third-party consultants to deliver a permit-aligned outcome. The FS demonstrated strong economics with an after-tax NPV5% of $247M, 36% IRR, and 3.4-year payback. JDS was subsequently engaged for EPCM services, with construction approximately 50% complete and first gold production scheduled for late 2020.

Aurora Gold Mine
JDS provided EPCM services for Guyana Goldfields Inc. to expand the Aurora Gold Mine processing plant in Guyana, South America. The two-phase project increased hard rock throughput from 5,600 tpd to 7,500 tpd while improving gold recovery by 2-3%. Phase 1 delivered a 1,000 tpd capacity increase with 1% recovery improvement, followed by Phase 2 adding another 900 tpd and 1-2% additional recovery enhancement.

Sa Dena Hes Mine
JDS managed the dismantling, relocation, and reassembly of the Sa Dena Hes Mine concentrator facility for transport to the Silvertip project, 200km away. The three-month project included safe deconstruction of near-new equipment and facilities—crusher building, concentrate building (SAG/ball mill, pumps), powerhouse, and outbuildings. JDS developed building-specific safety procedures, dismantling methodologies, and demolition sequencing to ensure successful facility relocation.

Giant Nickel Mine
Successfully completed remediation of the former Giant Nickel Mine near Hope, BC in 2017-2018. The project regraded and stabilized tailings facilities closed over 40 years ago, ensuring long-term site safety through improved water management, enhanced embankment stability for seismic events, and optimized drainage systems—achieving sustainable passive closure.

JDS produced two NI 43-101 compliant Preliminary Economic Assessments and a Pre-Feasibility Study for Capstone Mining's Santo Domingo Project in Chile. Each study enhanced project economics and advanced development. JDS responsibilities included underground mine design and planning, infrastructure engineering and design, process plant design, metallurgical testing, capital and operating cost estimation, and overall study management. Studies were delivered on budget and ahead of schedule, improving economic returns for the 2,500 tpd, $200M capital project.

JDS, through a 50/50 partnership with Alexco Environmental (MNRLP), is contracted by CIRNAC to remediate and close the Mount Nansen mine site, abandoned in the mid-90s and located 60km northwest of Carmacks, Yukon. Services include engineering, permitting, care and maintenance, and full site remediation.

Giant Mine
As sub-contractor to Det'on Cho Nahanni Construction, JDS provided mine engineering and backfill monitoring services for the placement of 61,300 m³ of paste backfill across 6 stope complexes. Services included underground geotechnical review and ground support recommendations, bulkhead design, detailed work plan development, paste leakage mitigation, real-time placement monitoring via remote cameras and cavity surveys, and daily engineering support and reporting.

Romero
JDS led GoldQuest's revised Preliminary Economic Assessment for the Romero gold-copper project in Dominican Republic, focusing on a smaller, high-grade underground mine. The 2015 PEA delivered significant enhancements: 2.7-year capital payback, nine-year underground operation at 2,500 tpd (912,500 tpa) averaging 117,000 recovered gold equivalent ounces annually, 86% indicated resources (6.6Mt) with remaining resources available for future extraction, and reduced environmental footprint without on-site cyanide use. JDS and GoldQuest improved project economics to 34% after-tax IRR and C$219M NPV. JDS was subsequently retained in mid-2016 to advance the project to Pre-Feasibility Study.

JDS completed an independent NI 43-101 compliant Preliminary Economic Assessment for True Gold's Karma Project in Burkina Faso. With gold mineralization subject to an oxidation profile affecting metallurgical response, JDS evaluated heap leach and carbon-in-leach (CIL) extraction processes to determine the optimal development strategy and explored economics of mining and treating supplemental refractory material.

JDS provided comprehensive underground mine planning for Nyrstar's Myra Falls operation in BC, including on-site support, long-term development planning, and production scheduling. Recent work focused on capital expenditure analysis, surface access evaluation, and production optimization options. JDS performed all underground project management, engineering, and economic trade-off studies.

JDS provided mine planning and field engineering support to Baffinland's Mary River iron ore mine in Nunavut starting in 2015. JDS developed a five-year production plan and mine design meeting ore grades, production rates, and project-specific parameters; reviewed and audited mining department data management with implementation of new tracking systems and reporting tools; and improved ore transportation to port through cycle time assessment, haul road review, corrective engineering design, and implementation.
