Karowe Diamond Mine
Following a 2018 review of Lucara's Underground Preliminary Feasibility Study, JDS was retained to lead the 2019 Underground Feasibility Study. JDS delivered the FS in 10 months, under budget, with significantly improved economics through de-risking and optimizing the mining method, production profile, and diamond release. Based on this success, Lucara sole-sourced JDS for EPCM services on the US$500M underground mine construction, including permitting, new power infrastructure, two 750m+ deep shafts, 15km of lateral development, and underground infrastructure over a 5-year development period.

Escobal Mine
JDS provided senior leadership to Tahoe Resources' construction management team for above-ground infrastructure development. Process facilities included three-stage crushing, 4,500 hp ball mill, zinc and lead flotation circuits, concentrate filtration, tailings thickeners and filtration, paste backfill plant, and complete power distribution including substation. Non-process infrastructure encompassed a six-bay mine maintenance shop, equipment wash facility, warehouse, and administration buildings. JDS also led civil earthworks including dry stack tailings area, mechanically stabilized earth wall for primary crusher, and lined sediment control ponds.

Silvertip Mine
JDS Silver purchased Silvertip from Silvercorp in 2013, completed a PEA for a 1,000 tpd Pb-Zn-Ag operation (1.4M tonnes at 365 g/t Ag, 7.2% Pb, 8.7% Zn), and constructed the mine in 10 months from December 2015. JDS purchased and refurbished the Sa Dena Hes processing plant augmented with Diavik's paste plant, transporting 190 equipment loads to site. Infrastructure included 120' bridge, 26km access road, 150-bed camp, 2,000 m² mill building, 7.5MW LNG powerplant (plus 5MW diesel backup), 150 m³/hr water treatment, dry stack tailings, and event pond. JDS provided underground startup support including shotcreting, CRF, services, and dewatering. Completed safely with 256,043 hours and zero LTIs, on budget and on schedule.

Golden Meadows
JDS expanded camp facilities at Midas Gold's Stibnite Gold Project in Idaho to support a winter drilling program for up to 75 people. JDS acquired, transported, and commissioned the Midas-1, Midas-2, and Stibnite camps in Yellow Pine and Stibnite, enabling the drilling program to proceed. JDS established a safety-oriented culture on-site, relocated helicopter-lifted drilling supplies from the congested core shack area to a new helicopter hangar location for improved safety, and fast-tracked construction of the helicopter hangar and fuel farm to ensure operability for the 2011-2012 winter drill program.

Cariboo Gold
JDS mobilized a shotcrete crew and equipment on 5 days' notice to Osisko Development's QR Mine in Wells, BC to rehabilitate the main ramp and priority headings where sloughing had occurred in faulted siltstone. JDS provided a robotic Aliva 302 sprayboom with Aliva 252 and pre-dampener, deployed 24/7 miners integrated with Owner's staff and contractors, completed two ventilation door sprays, and assisted with services and blasting. The contract duration was three months.
Wells, BC
Mt Polley Restart
Since November 2021, JDS has provided full-service contract mining for Imperial Metals' Mt. Polley Mine in BC. Technical services (average 5 staff) include short and medium-range mine planning, drill and blast design, mine survey, production tracking, waste rock design, and geotechnical support. JDS provides all front-line supervisors and workers (currently 70 employees) for in-pit operations using Mt. Polley equipment, including all management, pit shifters, health and safety oversight, and training programs. JDS is supplementing the Owner's fleet with equipment including two mobilized DTH drills.

Buriticá Mine
JDS completed a Feasibility Study and NI 43-101 technical report for Continental Gold's (CGI) Buriticá Project in Colombia, published February 2016 on budget and on schedule. Highlights include: 31% after-tax IRR at $1,200/oz gold (38% at $1,400/oz), 2.3-year payback ($1,200/oz gold), $389M capex, average annual production of 282,000 oz gold and 494,000 oz silver in first 5 years at $387/oz cash cost (with silver credits), 14-year mine life producing 3.5M oz gold and 6.4M oz silver from 13.7M tonnes at 8.4 g/t gold and 24.3 g/t silver. JDS continues supporting financing, Colombian permitting, and critical engineering advancement.

Idaho Cobalt
JDS provided EPCM services and life-of-mine planning for Formation Metals' Idaho Cobalt Project at 8,000' elevation, 40km west of Salmon, Idaho. Mine scope included site access, 1,800m decline development, portal infrastructure, 1,000' tramway, 800 tpd mill and concentrator, dry stack tailings, and water management. The Sunshine Refinery addition in Kellogg included a 30,000 sq ft cobalt process plant for 99.7% purity cobalt production with copper and gold byproducts. Project suspended mid-construction due to financing constraints.

Efemçukuru Mine and Kişladağ Mine
JDS managed construction of Eldorado Gold's 25,000 tpd gold plant at Efemçukuru, Turkey, starting March 2009. The scope included plant layout review and revision, oversight of design work with local engineering firms, and complete procurement and logistics management of equipment and materials. JDS's lean construction management team supervised all aspects including cost control, scheduling, health and safety, and environmental management for the $200M Efemçukuru project and $60M Kişladağ expansion.

Minto Mine
JDS provided feasibility study support and full EPCM services for Capstone's Minto Mine, delivering a 1,400 tpd copper-gold process plant from acquisition (mid-2005) to commercial production (June 2007). The $100M project included mine development, dry stack tailings facility, custom Yukon River barge, airstrip, 3MW power plant, 130-person camp, and supporting infrastructure. JDS managed detailed engineering through Hatch and EBA, procurement, construction via Clark Builders and Pelly Construction, and commissioning—all on schedule and on budget.
JDS subsequently completed EPCM for two expansions: first to 2,600 tpd with water filtration for environmental discharge, then to 3,500 tpd. Both expansions were delivered on schedule and on budget.
Yukon Territory
Campo Morado Mine
JDS led design and construction of the Naranjo Alto tailings facility for Nyrstar with a $32M budget, one-year timeline, and 900,000 m³ earthworks including HDPE liner installation. JDS procured and mentored local contractors to achieve budget and schedule targets. Following a project design review, JDS managed staging optimization that reduced initial capital costs to $6.2M by lowering initial elevation and limiting liner to the downstream face only. JDS also managed an expansion raise lift to the existing tailings pond. All work was completed under budget and on schedule.

Hope Bay
JDS provided engineering and construction management for Newmont's Hope Bay Phase I 800 tpd mine and mill, designed for future expansion to 3,200 tpd. The year-round northern construction program included a Boeing 737-capable airstrip, frozen core tailings dam, 6,000 m² mill foundation and building, prefabricated mill from South Africa, 12 MW power plant, 27.5M liters diesel storage, pipelines, camp facilities, and supporting infrastructure for anticipated April 2014 production. Newmont placed the project on care and maintenance in February 2012.

Magnetite Recovery Project
JDS delivered a turnkey 2,400 tpd magnetite processing plant for Canadian International Ltd. to supply media-grade magnetite to Western Canadian coal producers. The design-build-operate project included metallurgical testwork, process flowsheet development, detailed engineering management, procurement of all equipment including a used ball mill, construction and commissioning management, HSE program implementation, and daily plant operations. The project was completed on budget, on schedule, with zero incidents.

Gahcho Kué Diamond Mine
JDS transformed a sub-economic diamond project into a viable $750M development through re-scoping studies that optimized waste management, processing rates, and execution strategy. JDS produced the Definitive Feasibility Study and partnered with Hatch to deliver EPCM services for the remote fly-in mine, accessible by 420km ice road only 2 months annually. Construction included complete processing facilities, 14MW power plant, 450-person camp, jet-capable aerodrome, 3M m³ earthworks, 25M BCM dewatering, and 8M BCM pre-stripping. The 3.5M workforce-hour project was completed safely, on budget, on schedule, with first ore delivered June 14, 2016.

Skagway Ore Terminal Expansion
JDS completed expansion of the remote Skagway, Alaska terminal facility, including demolition of existing structures, environmental stewardship, lead abatement program, and compliance with Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority (AIDEA) requirements. JDS developed and executed proper handling and disposal procedures for contaminated structures, implemented comprehensive HSE programs, and managed local contractors for construction, operation, and maintenance of all electrical, mechanical, and structural systems. The project was completed on time, on budget, with zero incidents.

Hope Bay Mill Load Out
JDS managed the complete relocation and transport of processing equipment to Guyana Goldfields' Buckhall site. The scope included preparing equipment for shipment (adding members, reducing module sizes, containerizing), sourcing vessels, quayside loading oversight, laydown preparation, and Georgetown-to-Buckhall transportation. Due to the oversize modules exceeding Guyana's port capacity, JDS executed an innovative solution: discharging breakbulk cargo port-side to moored barges, then transporting 70km down the Demerara and Essequibo Rivers to Buckhall. The project was completed in 2.5 months including 16 days sailing time.

Huckleberry Mine
JDS delivered design-build, self-perform services for Hope Brook Mining Limited's comprehensive tailings and water management system in 2013. The project included over 12km of HDPE pipeline transporting tailings to a new Cyclone Sand Plant for coarse sand separation and dam construction material, installation of 600hp and 200hp booster pumps, a complete CSP facility with pre-engineered building, new reclaim water barge and pump infrastructure at TMF-3, 5km of reclaim water pipeline, seepage control systems, and 5.5km of 13.8kV overhead power line. The project was completed on time, under budget, with zero lost-time injuries.

Three Bluffs Project
JDS designed, supplied, and installed hot water systems, piping, power, and pumping infrastructure to extend diamond core drilling operations by four months annually during cold weather at this remote northern exploration project. JDS also designed and constructed an airstrip for 208 Caravan aircraft to reduce transportation costs, procured and assembled equipment via Hercules transport, and mobilized camp kitchen and sewage treatment facilities to support camp expansion while maintaining regulatory compliance. Implementation of JDS's HSE program improved site safety performance, with the project completed on time, on budget, and incident-free.

Coffee Project
Following the Feasibility Study, JDS was engaged by Goldcorp to provide EPCM services and two-year mine operations for the Coffee Project, a planned 200,000 oz/year heap leach gold mine south of Dawson City, Yukon. The comprehensive scope included a 214km access road with river barge crossings, 425-person camp, 18,000 tpd crushing plant, ADR plant, airstrip, maintenance facilities, water management infrastructure, 60Mt heap leach pad, steel storage tanks, and 450MW power plant. Following Newmont's acquisition of Goldcorp, the project was placed on hold while assets are prioritized. JDS continues to provide logistical support.
Yukon Territory
Barkerville Gold Mine
JDS provided on-site construction management and supervision for the Cow Mountain Portal development, enabling access to a 10,000-tonne bulk sample at Barkerville Gold Mines' Cariboo Gold Project. Work included a 300m non-contact diversion ditch, 6m x 6m x 25m Arch Lock Tunnel with retaining wall, 4,000m² pad construction, and significant earthworks totaling 30,000m³. JDS also managed mobilization of BGM's Sandvik MT-720 Road Header between portals, designed and constructed a 2,200m insulated and heat-traced dewatering pipeline, and provided ongoing operational support for road header operations.
